Gold Rush 2014 - Auction
Event Starts : 6th February 2015 - 8th March 2015

Attention Gold Rush Enthusiasts

The Gold Rush fever is upon Planet Arkadia once again and it brings about with it an Arkoin Auction.
Prepare your bids because there will be fierce competition.


Rules

1.A variety of items will be periodically auctioned during the Arkadia Gold Rush 2014.
2.The auctions will occur entirely here, on Planet Arkadia Forum, and not in the in-game auction system.
3.Bids will only be accepted in Arkoins.
4.Bids of any items other than Arkoins (eg PED) will be deemed invalid.
5.For each item being auctioned:
  • The item will feature in a new auction thread of its own
  • That auction will be announced in this thread, with a link
  • The auction will begin when it is listed
  • There will be no buyout bid amount
  • For the first four (4) weeks after the relevant auction thread is published, the auction will remain open.
  • After the first four weeks, the auction will then end when a bid remains the top bid for a period of 72 hrs
  • Such a 72 hr period will be taken to have begun no earlier than four (4) weeks after the auction thread is published
  • The winner is required to contact Dylan | Arkadia to arrange for trade or collection of auctioned item, within one week of the end of the auction.
  • If the winner of the auction fails to collect their award within the aforementioned one week of the end of the auction, the item will be awarded to the next highest bidder.
6.The potential issue has been raised that somebody could bid a million bajillion Arkoins that they don't have, with the plan of winning the auction, not claiming their prize, and having the prize go to their friend, the second bidder with a very small bid.
  • This is a great point, and we appreciate it having been raised.
  • Arkadia Studios will at its discretion check that interesting bids are backed by an actual Arkoin balance.
  • Arkadia Studios will announce a bid to be invalid on such grounds if deemed necessary.
  • Please note, "million bajillion" is not a real number, though legitimate attempts to bid this high are of course encouraged.
7.To avoid potential confusion, all bidders must ensure that their full in-game avatar name is visible by stating it in the actual bid post with the amount of Arkoins that they are bidding with.
8.Prizes will be sent after the end of Gold Rush 2014 (estimated end of March 2015).

The Gold Rush fever is upon Planet Arkadia once again. This years event comes with fantastic prizes. You are invited to mine and dig up those resources and supply the never ending demand of our extravagant community. There will be a demand for those Aakas Keys and amps.


Rules

The rules are extremely simple. The player with the Single Highest Loot (in PEDs) for the day during the course of the event will win the daily reward.

If you are mining and using an Arkadian Terra Amp, and hit the Single Highest Loot for the day, you will win the daily bonus reward.

All mining MUST take place on Planet Arkadia or in the Arkadia Underground.

Prizes are subject to one (1) per avatar. Once you have won a daily event, you will not be entitled to a secondary daily prize however you can still compete for the Grand Prize.​

Updated Cyrene Dynamic Upgrade Map 19 December 2014

Hey guys,

I just updated the Cyrene Dynamic Upgrade Map here:


It ended up being 7 and 1/2 weeks between the initial posting of the map and the update due to the first few weeks of reports missing data and subsequently waiting for that data to be retrieved again.

You can expect another update in approximately 3 weeks from now (the first full week of January 2015 (between the 5th and the 9th).

For now we'll keep the discussion of the map centered here.

Some things that we noticed and why we thought they occurred:

Ice Plateau and Panton Jungle - both areas were lacking in unique spawns. Since the VU the unique spawns have been added to the Ice Plateau area and we've added another TP to Panton Jungle. We'll also be focusing any event spawns in Pantone Jungle.

Ngu Volcano - this area might be too focused on only high level mobs, or it might be the way that the spawns for the Vlanwing and Protocores were when the VU launched initially. Since the VU the spawns for the Vlanwing and Protocore have been adjusted to be more separated as well as making sure that the Ancients can be spawned there as well.

Great Plains and Turrelion Desert - these zones ended up having more progress than we anticipated. The creature diversity and popularity in these areas are both high, which probably caused the additional 20% +/- of progression above the other zones.

We'll be keeping an eye on the reports that come down and adjusting accordingly, I think that now that we have many more universal ores and enmatters it will balance everything out a bit more.

Former EBN reporter Eri Kindari has just returned from a secret meeting with one of the RX Unit Commanders.

The RX, now cornered by the CDF's recent declaration of war are giving a very strong response in return to the CDF.

Here's the unaltered RX Unit Commander's message to the CDF and all colonists of Calypso:

"This is our only warning to you. We will defend ourselves.


We fight to maintain neutrality. We tried to help you with the creatures you call Feffox. It is your CDF that keeps proving time and again to be untrustworthy. They are furious that we would choose freedom over assisting them. They put bounties on us for safeguarding our own interests from them.

Do not trust the CDF. Do not believe the devious propaganda that this conflict is a matter of good versus evil. We will defend ourselves against any and all who try to harm us."

This message may speak for itself, one thing that is clear is that the level of tension in the robot conflict have reached a new peak.

Running for 23 days over the Christmas and New Year holiday period, Merry Mayhem is among the most exciting and popular events in all of Entropia Universe, with tons of valuable prizes.

So grab your best gear and join in the Mayhem!

Event Dates

Dec 19, 15:00:00 UTC - The Santa's Little Helper NPCs in Nymphtown, Fort Zeus and Fort Ithaca become active and the event begins.
Jan 11, 15:00:00 UTC - Event ends.
Jan 26 - Event results announced.


Event Registration & Participation
Santa's Little Helper event NPCs are located in Nymphtown, Fort Zeus and Fort Ithaca. Speak with one of these NPCs to activate the Merry Mayhem solo and team missions. When you accept the missions, you will automatically be placed in the appropriate categories and will receive a stack of instance gate keys, each of which provides one hour of hunting time in the associated Merry Mayhem instance.

The Santas Little Helper NPC will provide you with 500 keys for the solo event and 500 keys for the team event which will be flagged with your assigned category. While the solo keys only allow you to enter the instance category specified in the item name, the team keys provide access to team instances above your assigned category as well.

Event points are earned by killing special Merry Mayhem creatures found inside the instances.

Once you have received the missions, speak to one of the Santa's Little Helper NPCs to gain access to the Merry Mayhem instances.

Categories
The event offers several different competition categories to accommodate players of varying profession levels. Players will be sorted into one of the following five categories upon accepting the Mayhem missions.


  • Category 1: Highest Professional Standing 0-24
  • Category 2: Highest Professional standing 25-49
  • Category 3: Highest Professional standing 50-69
  • Category 4: Highest Professional Standing 70-99
  • Category 5: Professional Standing 100+


Note: If during the course of the event you gain enough skills to move into the next category you will no longer be able to enter the team instance arenas using your allotted keys.

Event points are earned based upon the type of creature killed:

1 Point - Merry Mayhem Kerberos
2 Points - Merry Mayhem Araneatrox
10 Points - Yulebot

Final event scores will be calculated based on hourly point averages to derive each participant's 40-hour normalized event score.

This scoring method removes the need for participants to track time spent in the instances (beyond meeting the 40-hour prize eligibility requirement, described below), removes the risk of participants being inadvertently disqualified from the event for time reasons, and allows all participants to hunt as much as desired in the Merry Mayhem instances without giving an unfair advantage to those who are able to hunt for many, many hours.

Example

Avatar A - Point total: 4000, Hours : 32, Hourly point average: 125, 30-hour normalized score: 3750
Avatar B - Point total: 8600, Hours: 72, Hourly point average: 119.44, 30-hour normalized score: 3583.33

In this example, Avatar A would place higher in the final results, even though Avatar B has more total points.

Highest Single Loot Bonus - The participant who scores the highest single loot on each of the various Merry Mayhem creatures outlined above will receive a 25% boost to their final 40-hour normalized score!

The solo category events are intended for solo hunters. Any attempt at abusing team mechanics or any other Entropia Universe systems or features in order to gain an unfair advantage over other participants will be grounds for disqualification from the event, forfeiture of any prizes, and possible sanctions imposed on one’s Entropia Universe account.

Do not abandon the Merry Mayhem missions! If you abandon one of the event missions for any reason, intentionally or accidentally, all points earned up to that point will be lost forever and will not be included in your final event score. Support cannot and will not restore points for abandoned missions, regardless of the situation.

***IMPORTANT*** A participant must complete at least 40 hours in the assigned Merry Mayhem instance in order to qualify for winning a prize.

For the Highest Single Loot (HSL) score bonus, if the participant who achieves the HSL on one of the Merry Mayhem creatures does not meet the 30-hour prize eligibility requirement, the next highest loot for the creature in question will be considered. And so on, until a prize-eligible participant is awarded the HLS score bonus.

Q: Do I need to actually spend 40 hours inside the Merry Mayhem instances, or just use 40 of the instance keys that were provided?
A: All Merry Mayhem event score and time calculations are based on actual time spent in the event instances, not on keys consumed.

Q: If I experience a client crash, disconnection or other issue while in one of the Merry Mayhem instances, how will this affect my time calculation and/or final score?
A: As explained above, all calculations are based on actual time connected to one of the event instances. In the case of a client crash or disconnection, time in the event instance will stop being counted within approximately 10 seconds of disconnection.

Q: I was assigned to Category 1 Team. If I spend 10 hours in a Category 2 Team instance helping a friend, will those hours count against my Category 1 Team hourly point average?
A: No. Time spent in team instances above your assigned category will not be counted when calculating your assigned category score.

Q: Is it possible to win a prize in more than one category?
A: No. Participants are assigned a particular category when accepting the Merry Mayhem mission(s). It is therefore not possible to earn points in any of the other categories.

New Universal Resource

A new resource called “Nanocube” has been added to Trade Terminals on all planets. This universal resource will mainly be used in blueprints for basic items and commodities in demand on all planets.

Explosive Projectiles
Several new blueprints for the manufacture of Explosive Projectiles have been added. The new blueprints utilize Nanocubes as the sole blueprint ingredient, and can be found while crafting Mechanical Components on any planet.

Changes
  • The H-DNA and Loot Collection Pill items are no longer lootable in PVP areas.
  • Item link is now added to the transportation message you get in the message center.

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where the client says you have insufficient balance after creating orders.
  • Fixed an issue where the level indicators were missing on Blueprints.
  • Items in loot windows now display their values correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where the grass displayed neon colors during the night.
  • Warp drive particle effect now works as intended.

Known Issues
Offline messages does not always show in the message center. We are currently looking more into this but deployed a small fix in this release to make it work for most players. Please re-send friend requests etc.

New Arrivals


The initial faction missions have arrived for A.R.C. faction. The faction terminals are located near the Tans'Ta'Oh Teleporter. There are over 40 simple faction missions for this stage which award A.R.C. Faction Badges. At 200 badges players gain access to a special vendor that sells special weapons and armor. There are faction missions for all skill levels for this initial stage.

Due to the new layout of the A.R.C. Staging Area, a new teleporter has been added. The new teleporter is named, you guessed it: A.R.C. Staging

Several universe wide items have been added to the loot pool including Shopkeeper Pads and Mannequin Pads.

Changes

The A.R.C. Staging Area has undergone layout and topographical changes. The NPCs that have been stationed there have been re positioned along with all teleporters. The map has also been adjusted.

Several mob spawns have been reduced in density on the Ice Plateau Area.

Known Issues
- Support weapons are not currently working properly, this is a platform issue.
- The Spear MK. III is difficult to maneuver, this is being looked into.
- The Spear destroyed model becomes invisible, this issue is being looked into.
- All Cyrene vehicles (P.I.G.V., Spear, Lancer, Dragonfly) have default sounds, this will be addressed in a future patch.
- Some Quality Ratings information in blueprint book: A.R.C. is incorrect, and this issue is still being looked into.

Longtooths sighted in Port Atlantis and near Camp Icarus

A rare sight - The Longtooth, best known for migrating in the north of Eudoria at around the same time as the Eomon have been sighted near Port Atlantis and near Camp Icarus.

This rare spawn of Longtooth Dominant is expected to be seen on the evening of December 15, UTC time and contain shared loot on the following locations:

Communication disturbances have plagued many parts of Entropia and Calypso during the past weekend.

Planet Cyrene Hard Launch Status

Hello Everyone,

We've been working diligently towards hard launch but unfortunately the PvP Mech system will NOT be available to us until Q1 2015 at the earliest. We will be focusing on this system when our marketing takes off internationally. While this is not the only thing coming in Hard Launch it is the major focus that we'd like to spotlight for our Hard Launch marketing coverage. We'll still be developing the Dynamic Upgrade Map as well as adding new Faction content for this coming VU/Mini Patch.

As part of an effort to stimulate the economy further, and help with the growth of the game, I have earmarked 12,000 Ped Per Week from my CLD income to be used in one of the following two ways.

1. Paid Positions for qualified individuals in the community to better assist new players, and supply them with a starter pack for free.

a.- Would range from 1000 ped ($100) to 2000 ped ($200) per week per worker.

b.- With the help of a community I would acquire packs based on one or two of the 3 Main Classes. ( Hunting to me seems one of the easiest, however mining seems like it would provide a much stronger / higher ROI keeping them playing longer ) This can also include a lesson in trading / auction etc ( see c )

c.- The development of a comprehensive beginners / professions guide that will be continually updated to account for any changes within the game. I understand there are numerous guides out there, however I would like to get together those individuals in professions who have experienced a level of success that can contribute to the guide in a meaningful way, with the thought in mind that this is to help the stability and growth of the game over the long term. The communities involvement in this is crucial as the community knows best in regards to what to expect as a new player, experiences in the past you have had that have been beneficial etc. I don't want to take up this entire thread elaborating, but long story short I would earmark 10,000 ped ( $1000 ) for the creation of such a guide with the idea it will be updated etc.

2. Weekly Ingame Events

a.- This would be Free ingame events for different levels of game player to support the community directly with 12,000 ped being given away each week. or 48,000 ped per month.


b.- This would require the acquisition of various land areas to account for the various skill levels of players participating ( low to high level players ) The taxes used from these events would be dedicated to a smaller scale version of Option 1 ( New Player Support )

c.- Would require different amounts for each level of skill so to not isolate one class of player from getting no financial support.

There are allot of + and - to each of these which are to be considered, and barriers would have to be thought of to prevent the exploitation of such initiatives ( someone creating multiple accounts to get kits etc or colluding to win events weekly ) but I thought the best place to finalize this idea would be with the communities help.

Why would I want to do this? : Simple, I can make more money over the long term, while simultaneously helping the community grow / prosper.

Through my research I have noticed that planet partners have struggled on two fronts.

1. Marketing - None have really capitalized on everything that this unique platform offers through any real marketing. The initial marketing should be kicked off with a big event. I understand the first big waves came through the news of Club Neverdie and Treasure Island sales. It made people say wow this much money is changing hands in a virtual world in a game I can play for free? Knowing that this type of news has caused two main gains in the population of this planet is very valuable information that has not been fully utilized. I won't go much deeper into this, however I have many ideas which I feel confident would succeed.

2. New Player Retention Rates - Because of a lack of the above I have proposed, there is no where near enough new player support to keep people playing the game once going through the processes to land on calypso. I have personally on numerous occasions had friends make accounts, and try to figure the game out and see what help they received. It was a terrible experience and can be vastly improved. This needs to be done from a ground up approach in a way we can do without the help of any developer. Direct interaction with another human will never be replaced as the best learning tool, we need to capitalize on this.

I do this with the idea that in the future I will be able to create my own marketing campaign, bring in my own new players, and receive decay % profits from such accounts. The most important part for ANYONE who wants to do something like this, is to have a place where the new can survive and learn. If they join the game and quit after a few days not one person wins from this.

If you are wondering who is he at the moment it is known that he is from USA joined planet Calypso forum around November 2014 and has the forum name LuckyMan87.

He must be really lucky because he has 1 million dollars to throw at his video game. And what are his plans to do with that 1 million. Here is short summary from the man himself.

My CLD Aquisition

To add some clarity to prevent rumors that may have an impact in a market which I am investing in:

1. I will acquire if the market allows 6,000+ CLD

2. I will purchase them directly in bulk until it is no longer possible before utilizing the ingame auction.

3. I am approximately 400 CLD shy of 2000.

4. No I am not going to buy Planet Calypso, Or any Planet for that matter.

5. I have no plans on selling them any time soon.

6. Clearly I would not be purchasing these if I did not expect the value to dramatically increase in the next 2 years.

7. I am contemplating the purchase of either a group of land areas, or shopping center (mall).

8. I am lobbying for there to be a better affiliate marketing program which will allow revenue to be passed to the player based on the life of accounts that are brought to the game (Profit Sharing of Decay). I know this currently exists for planet partners, but a system for players would help dramatically increase the user base.

9. I will be lobbying for other systems I think would have a very positive effect on the economy and provide longer term stability.

10. Any questions feel free to PM me, I will try to be as transparent as possible to avoid any rumors.

Q:Is it even possible for you to be able to affect "the system", "the devs" and "the game" so much so that you’re able to "lobby" for something to be implemented?

A:Excellent Question.

I think the best answer I can give you is to wait for a couple of weeks until I implement a system which will inevitably bring more power to the players. If you would like specifics please feel free to PM me. I think what this game has been missing is a unity among players for the benefit of all. You don't realize the financial power all of you have together, and its impact on directing this company actively, rather than currently passively.

I have noticed many issues appearing during events which could be expected to a certain degree, however I think there should be a certain process that is put in place to ensure a much smoother rollout of future events on planet calypso.

Start / End Times being triple verified before being implemented by more than one person.
Point / Time System Functionality
Have a check list they physically go through before putting it on the live servers.
Etc.

I have a feeling this does not currently exist internally and if it does it is rather limited. In an effort to keep the masses happy, I strongly believe this should be implemented to allow for a better gaming experience at event time.

Perhaps a bit of transparency as to what Quality Control by Mind Ark actually occurs would be helpful.

Feel free to make any suggestions, as if this is read by the right party it would be helpful to them.

I am currently seeking out land areas on calypso that come complete with DNA. Please do not waste my time with an extreme overpriced offer. I am ready to pull the trigger on the right deal, so save me the time negotiating.

2.The political system will be controlled mostly by this man.

3.“I think the best answer I can give you is to wait for a couple of weeks until I implement a system which will inevitably bring more power to the players.” – Not sure what he is talking about here, but sound like something big for the small players.

New Content

Improvements made to the New Arrivals Hangar and NPE mission chain.



New Player Experience (NPE), is now locked to only allow Arkadia players.

As part of our ongoing evaluation of the "New Player Experience", and as a followup on our previous improvements to the start room, this update includes some significant improvements to the New Arrivals Hangar.


Locations

Celeste Harbour Military HQ has been redesigned.

Paint Factory has been renamed to a more fitting Victorious Firebase.
Teleporters in the underground are now visible to everyone.
South Island from 8C Windy Isles teleporter is now protected by the IFN, enter at your own risk. The IFN have the authority to engage anyone disturbing the wildlife on the island. (NOTE: Non lootable PvP zone now covering the island)


Aakas Instance Improvements

Chambers 1-10 have been modified so the creatures inside them will now be lootable. As part of this modification, the treasure chests have been removed from the chambers.
As an effect of this you need to loot the killed creature within one (1) minute. Following next week's patch, this time limit will increase to fifteen (15) minutes.

The Golden Key instance remains unchanged.

Known Issues

The hitbox on the Pandi is undergoing some improvements.
Textures missing on the Monura Female.
The New Arrival Hangar's force field is still in need of some minor adjustments to allow friendly ships to enter.
The IFN are still investigating all these highly effective silencers that been attached to a large amount of weapons. They assure everyone that the sound issue has no effect on the weapons output and that the firepower is as effective as expected from both Herman and other approved weapon producers. (other sound effects are also being worked on)

Galactic Transport
It is now possible to bid on auctions listings from all planets, regardless of the current location of the bidding avatar. Buyers are presented with three options when winning an auction originating from a different planet:

-Pickup at Origin - Items won from auction will be placed into the buyer’s storage on the planet of origin (the planet where the auction was created). Buyer must then travel to the planet of origin to retrieve the items from storage.
-Normal Delivery - Items won from auction will be transported to the buyer’s storage at the buyer’s current location after 12 hours. This option will incur a small transport fee based on the weight of the items to be transported, with a minimum fee of 2 PED. A delivery notice will appear in the Message Center when items are delivered.
-Instant Delivery - Items won from auction will be transported immediately to the buyer’s inventory at the buyer’s current location. This option will incur a higher fee than Normal Delivery, with a minimum fee of 6 PED.

The majority of the transport fees collected for the Normal and Instant Delivery options will be held in a special transport fee pool. In a future Version Update, transport missions will be made available that can be claimed by spaceship pilots via a queue system that incorporates the available transport fee pool, pilot skills, time limitations, and ship cargo capacities.

Auction Order Improvements
Auction orders will now place bids automatically on offers with no buyout and on offers with buyouts higher than the auction order’s maximum bid. The automatic bids will be made at the lowest legal bid amount and the system will continue to raise the bid against subsequent competing bids as high as the order’s maximum price will allow. Offers with a buyout price lower than an order’s maximum price will be matched immediately at the offer’s buyout price, functioning the same as before this update.

Pet Summoning
Some pets can now be summoned on planets other than the pet’s planet of origin. The pet information panel indicates whether a pet can be summoned on foreign planets. Pets must be at least level 7 to be summoned on a foreign planet.

Whips
Several new whips have been added. Blueprints for the whips can be found while crafting weapons on any planet.

Bug Fixes
An issue causing the Metabolic Boost buff to not function in some cases has been corrected.
An issue causing the camera behave strangely when close to walls has been corrected.
Improved pet positioning when summoning pets inside instances or in close quarters

Known Issues
Nanocubes, a new resource sold by the Trade Terminal on Calypso, are currently not used in any blueprints. In an upcoming patch blueprints will be released that require Nanocubes and Nanocubes will be available from Trade Terminals on all planets.
During the night time in Entropia, the grass can get neon colors due to a dissolve issue.

The Quadwing Equus - Special edition Quadwing Interceptors

Entropia Universe will be auctioning off 25 high-performance spacecraft. The new two-seater luxury vessels feature a warp drive for rapid interplanetary travel, along with unrivaled handling and top speed, critical when operating in potentially hostile regions.

The Quad-wing Interceptor is a medium fighter capable of space and atmospheric flight. Its 4-wing configuration is commonly seen patrolling space stations and mother ships to fend off pirate attacks. This fast and agile ship is the bread and butter interceptor for most private armies, although it’s also a favorite among privateers due to its weapons load out and speed.


Auctions for the fiery-red Quadwing Equus ships will begin on December 9th, 2014, with opening bids of 50,000 PED (5,000 USD). Bidding competition is expected to be fierce. End times for the 25 auction listings will be staggered at various hours of the day, and over a period of three weeks, so that interested parties from all time zones can participate.

The entire server has undergone optimization and should now run more smoothly on all settings.

Various bugs have been fixed:
- The High Desert Teleporter should no longer glitch players underground.

5 PED Arena
- The exit in the 5 PED Arena is now visible and able to be used.
- All Arenas should be functioning correctly.

Known Issues
- Support weapons are not currently working properly, this is a platform issue.
- The Spear MK. III is difficult to maneuver, this is being looked into.
- The Spear destroyed model becomes invisible, this issue is being looked into.
- All Cyrene vehicles (P.I.G.V., Spear, Lancer, Dragonfly) have default sounds, this will be addressed in a future patch.
- Some Quality Ratings information in blueprint book: A.R.C. is incorrect, and this issue is still being looked into.

Coming in the Mini Patch
- The A.R.C. staging area and starter area have been overhauled now that A.R.C. has had time to setup a proper base.
- The A.R.C. Stage 1 Faction Missions will be available from terminals near the Tans'Ta'Oh Outpost over 40 in total.
- The A.R.C. Stage 1 Faction Rewards will also available via a special vendor in the Hub, a special set of armor and a weapon.

Missing Badger_710R discovered on planet Arkadia

The IFN have discovered where those missing Badgers_710R have been hidden, deep in the Jungle areas of Sentosa.
As they suspected it seems like "the Smugglers" have stolen specific models and re-purposed them to suit their criminal activities.

Expect to see a follow up in the next Version Update.
