Jon NEVERDIE Jacobs admits some mistake on RockTropia

Interesting post from Jon NEVERDIE Jacobs:

For a long time I have heard negative feedback about the amount of NEVERDIE branding on ROCKtropia..
I have largely dismissed it... But I guess some people dont like to visit ROCktropia because of the NEVERDIE Branding..

There are some Who Believe that it is not the economy that is holding ROCKtropia back, but the NEVERDIE Brand.

I on the other hand, feel the biggest issue facing ROCKtropia is a well balanced economy that can at least to some extent hold its own with Calypso and other Planets... followed by the need for a great starter experience, followed by a fantastic marketing campaign...

I have been trying to address the economic issues with little success for the last three years..... I Know, we need better balanced mobs, too many High level mobs, We need better loot lists, too many of the items that drops are TT food, we need some Rare items with High TT. I know we need to re-balance all the Weapon BPs and add a decent Number of Unlimited BPs... Of course we need to make sure the weapons are also worth crafting... We need to review all the ingredients required for the BP's to make sure they are dropping in the right proportions and we need to make sure that MU cost of the ingredients is not so high that the weapons become too expensive to hunt with...

I also know we need a Lot more decent weapons in the Loot, so that hunters are not entirely dependent on crafters... We also Probabaly need a Bunch more Mining Amp BPs or other tools that use up Dedicated RT resources...

And we need to address Bugs... And we need to do alot more events...

These things I do know and for various reasons I have to start over almost from scratch to make this happen...

But Do I also need to Remove the NEVERDIE branding? And do you want to have the RT specific ORES and Enmaters names changed so that they are no longer named after Cocktails and Music genres? I only ask this because some people out there would like me to believe that this is the big Problem.

SO please I encourage you to vote in the Poll if you are someone who visits ROCKtropia and has feelings on the subject...
Share your sentiment...

A big Yes or a Big No... also please write anything else you may have to say in this thread, because I need you to weigh in on the subject... Also please ask your friends who don't visit this forum to come and say there piece..

This is an important opportunity to express how you feel about the NEVERDIE brand in Entropia Universe...

Finally I will clarify what NEVERDIE means to me...

Firstly I wasn't born with the name NEVERDIE, but my avatar was, its a name I came up with when I wrote a movie script back in 1999/2000 about a World Champion MMO Virtual/World Gamer... it was a fictional Character... I liked the Idea of a gamer who was so good, that he Never died...... That was how it started..

A couple of years later, I heard about Project entropia and I realized it was much like the Worlds i had imagined in my story,I signed up to beta test and I named my avatar Jon NEVERDIE Jacobs, the name of the character in my script was Jean NEVERDIE Baptiste... (Jean Claude Van Damme was interested at the time)

So thats how the Brand got started... I still want to make the Movie or a revised version of it, of course my own Virtual life has become Very colorful and I continue to try to build the brand with the hope that one day I can make it big enough to launch a movie...
I'm very excited that I am working now with Universal Studios bringing Movie IP to ROCKtropia and Entropia Universe and who knows maybe that will lead to something Virtual becoming a Movie one day... Stranger things have happened right?

some other things have happened along the way that affect how I feel about the name NEVERDIE, someone I cared for very deeply died and through that NEVERDIE came to mean something else to me, it has come to mean Striving to live forever, never giving up, it also ties in with a Sci-Fi dream of mine that we may one day be able to upload of consciousness into our avatars and actually Never die...

Also because of the success of Club NEVERDIE and the feedback I have received over the years from people who aspire to be succesfull in Virtual Reality, I see NEVERDIE as a sort of symbol of living the digital Dream.. of what can be achieved in a virtual world or a video game... I know that I fail many times, so perhaps the story of NEVERDIE may even end up a cautionary tale. But regardless, I'm touched that even if just for a few people the name NEVERDIE inspires some kind of hope...

LoL okay so u get the picture... Now let me know what you feel, I'm listening. Please get as many people to vote as you can, coz there are people who would like to see this Brand erased from RT and unless enough people say that NEVERDIE isn't the problem, then they may even succeed...

Damage, Speed and Range of MindForce Chips

Great guide from Nighthawk:

Which profession is required for which chip:
Electro Kinetic = Electric and Kinetic
Cryogenic = Cryogenic and Lacerating
Pyro Kinetic = Combustive and Corrosive

What this shows:
The differences in balance between damage, attack speed and range for the six different types of Mindforce combat chips.

Stats taken from Attack Nanochip IV (L)s. However, the balance between those stats remain largely intact for all levels of (L) Nanochips.

Reason:
To clearly present the difference between different combat chip types for people trying to get into the Mindforce profession.

For example; Combustive chip is slow but has high damage and range, while a Corrosive chip is fast but has low damage and range.

D = Damage (per hit).
S = Speed (uses per minute).
R = Range (in meters).

Each gauge goes from 0 to 100.

I hope this may save any mentor or newbie helper some time from explaining the difference to their disciples, as well as assist new players trying to find information about this (please also tell me if there is some info that should be added/altered to further clarify).

Getting paid in Entropia Universe

First I want to say that yesterday I unlocked the hidden skill Blueprint Comprehension. Everyone was saying that you have to unlock it before you start crafting seriously, but I don’t think that now I will be able to craft more things than before. At least I hope crafting will be little cheaper now.

I did it by repairing mothership for a week or two and just before that I got paid 9 PED for my ‘work’ in the ship. And that made me think for the different things I got paid while playing Entropia Universe. The day before that someone in Twin Peaks asked what is the name of a band playing I answered and got 10 PED for it. On planet Arkadia I got paid for gathering Oro for someone to shoot them with rocket launcher. I got paid for writing about Entropia Universe on Metaverse Tribune. I got paid for my sweat. I have found also different items laying on the ground or some roof. A remember finding armor part and ore finder on Rocktropia. And many blueprint around planet Calypso. Got few items by running faster than others on some event on Rocktropia. Also on Rocktropia got free ammo and gun to shoot big creature as supporting shooter. May be not paid in peds, but got paid in the skills I acquired.

Probably I am forgetting something, but there are also other ways to get paid, that I still didn’t use. Some because I didn’t have the skills, for others lack of time. Getting paid to heal someone, or work as a taxi from planet to planet. And you probably know about coloring or texturing or hairstyling or body changing for peds. I am also trying to provide some jobs in this Universe for working people like paying to my disciples or paying for some jobs in my society.

I’m sure soon there will be more and new stuff to do and get paid, because this is not a MMO. I would say this is Virtual Universe with elements of MMO. The game is just part of Entropia Universe. For some of the new jobs you will need skills, for other time or brain or connections or reputation. Just be ready and wait for your opportunity to become the first or may be the second virtual millionaire.

Feffox Mayhem

Jermaine Johansson: “We interrupt tonight’s broadcast of bla bla bla to bring you a shocking report on the developments at the CDF’s top-secret Egg Hatching Facility. CJ Weave joins us live from the scene. CJ?”

CJ Weave: “Th-thanks Jermaine. I am here... in what I was told would be the site of a modern day miracle, but what is now the scene of a massacre. Bodies everywhere. CDF soldiers... Scientists... Reporters...

The Egg hatched. The creature that emerged from the egg killed everyone in its path and escaped from the Hatching Facility. Xenobiologist Charles Marvin and Dr Wilson are missing, though their bodies were not found among the casualties.”

Jermaine Johansson: “Could you describe the creature for our viewers?”

CJ Weave: “I didn’t see it myself, but I heard it described as... uh... a Feffoid-like Atrox? Atroxoid Feffoid? Some of the surviving scientists were heard referring to the creature as the “Feffox”, but I’m not sure if there is a scientific basis for that or if it was just based on its peculiar appearance.”

Jermaine Johansson: “Right. Thank you, CJ.

One would imagine that a new, exotic creature would be a welcome sight for Calypso’s many hunters, but the situation is more dire than anyone could have expected.
The Feffox are reproducing and spreading at an alarming rate. Already, four different Feffox nests have been discovered on Eudoria.

The Governor has tasked the CDF with clearing out the Feffox nests and stopping the propagation of this dangerous new species. The Omegaton corporation was contracted to drill points of entry into the nests. CDF personnel were slaughtered to such an extent that the local revival systems briefly failed. Omegaton is happy to report that the new Omegaton Groundhog drill worked perfectly. “Omegaton - We build it, you use it.”

... What? I see. Alright.

It appears that the studio has received a transmission from the... Imperial Zoological Scouts. Yes. The Imperial Zoological Scouts have a... plan to stop the spread of the Feffox, but it will require the help of Calypso’s hunters.

Hunters who wish to volunteer for this mission should contact the IZS representative in Boreas. Due to the highly dangerous work involved, the IZS are offering some very valuable rewards in exchange for assistance in acquiring the samples required for their plan for the Feffox.

Wow! If only I still had my trusty old Opalo. And all of my limbs. Oh well. Full details on the plan are coming up right away. Happy hunting, Calypsians!”

Feffox Mayhem Event Details

Description
Four Feffox Nests have been located on the Eudoria continent, at the following locations:

  • Western Feffox Nest - 65905, 79456 (Low maturity)

  • Eastern Feffox Nest - 88283, 78559 (Mid-high maturity)
  • Northern Feffox Nest - 81269, 92576 (High maturity)

In an effort to try to limit the reproduction rate of the dangerous new species, IZS scientists require biological samples from the Feffox nests, primarily in the form of reproductive sacs.

A large number of such samples are required, and the following point reward system has been offered for those assisting in the retrieval of Feffox Sacs:

  • Rotten Feffox Sac (1 point)
  • Sickly Feffox Sac (5 points)
  • Damaged Feffox Sac (10 points)
  • Healthy Feffox Sac (20 points)
  • Mature Feffox Sac (50 points)
  • Fully Developed Feffox Sac (100 points)
  • Twin Feffox Sac (500 points)
  • Mutated Feffox Sac (1000 points)

Recovered Feffox Sacs should be submitted to the IZS representative located at Boreas Outpost (74364 x 67360, Eudoria).

Event Times

Rules & Notes
Each participant is limited to a maximum of 40 hours in the Feffox Nest event instances. This 40 hour limit applies to combined time in any of the Feffox Nest instances, not each individual nest. Event participants must keep track of their time spent in the event instances, since the current instance system unfortunately does not track time spent across multiple login/instance sessions.

This event is intended for solo hunters of all skill and gear levels. Any attempts at abusing team mechanics or any other Entropia Universe systems or features in order to gain an unfair advantage over other participants will be grounds for disqualification from the event, forfeiture of any prizes, and possible sanctions imposed on one’s Entropia Universe account.

Do not abandon the mission! If you abandon the mission for any reason, either intentionally or accidentally, all points earned up to that point will be lost forever. Support cannot and will not restore points for abandoned missions, regardless of the situation.
Happy Hunting!

Flying and repairing in mothership Varyag in Entropia Universe

After months of hearing how good and profitable repairing on Mothership is I decided to give it a try. I bought 3 Vehicle RK-5 (L) (the starting repairing tool you need to repair vehicles). It has 7 PED TT value and you can buy it for 10-11 PED. Also I bought 100 PED of welding wire (you need that also to be able to repair) for 160%. And then I joined the crew of Mothership Varyag.

Some motherships owner want you to pay them to repair their ship, but it was free on mothership Varyag. It was free to get summoned on the mothership and I have to pay 2 PED plus the fuel I will burn to get down to some planet or 7 PED to teleport to the planet. Flying and paying 2 PED seems cheaper.

At first the ship looked very big and hard to find my way around, but after few hours I was able to find fast the zone I was looking for. This was my first time flying and repairing on mothership and for few hour the feeling was almost like first time playing Entropia Universe. But to be honest after few weeks here in space I want to go mining on planet Arkadia or kill some robots on planet Calypso or just listen to music on planet Rocktropia. The skilling is good. I skilled fast to level 8 Vehicle Structural Engineer and few more days and I will hit level 10 and will unlock Blueprint Comprehension.

The way MindArk are developing space is great. First build playerbase on every planet, slowly make reasons to go to other planet even with the risk of PVP space and then develop and expand space. Not like EVE Online where they first made space and now trying to integrate some planetside action with no reason to go to planet. When space of Entropia Universe become crowded and full with reasons to go there it will be fun and the best space simulation out there no doubt, but still there is little to keep you up here for long if you are not part of Mothership that makes regular wrap flight.

I just got back to Calypso with my Quad-Wing Interseptor, participated in event, killed Combibo Stalker with value 383 PED, placed second and won hoverpod and oil. Also sold some armor I looted few weeks ago for 150% on auction and got another 200 PEDs. What a nice day.

Spring Mayhem Event Teaser 2013

Description

An exciting Spring Mayhem event related to the ongoing Egg storyline will begin on April 15th at 16:00:00 UTC and will continue until April 28, 23:59:59 UTC.

Similar to Merry Mayhem, the event will consist of four (solo) instances, each with creatures of varying difficulty. The instance portals will not require keys, allowing each participant to enter as often and for as long as they wish.

Rather than scoring mission points for each creature killed as in Merry Mayhem, participants will compete by collecting special event tokens found exclusively in the event creature loots. These non-tradable event tokens exist in various point values (1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 points), and must be turned in to the mission NPC before the end of the event to be counted in your final event score. Prize winners will be determined by total mission points earned during the event period.

Full details of the event including the locations of the mission NPC and instance portals will be announced on Monday, April 15.
