ROCKTROPIA Virtual World Celebrates 10 Years of Entropia Universe!

Ten years ago Entropia Universe, which was known at the time as Project-Entropia, bravely went Gold. Back in those days, Mark Zuckerberg was tinkering with Facemash, World of Warcraft was still 22 Months away from Launch, Second life was still 5 months away from official launch and would not add currency until the end of 2003 and Gamers in general still embraced the idea of paying subscription fees and had a big problem with Micro Transaction Economies.

Way ahead of the curve, Entropia Universe bravely stepped out with full blown MMO gameplay built around the brilliant concept of Real Cash virtual Goods harvesting, manufacturing and trading. A concept designed to Empower the Gamer by giving a real cash value to the time spent engaged in playing online.

Entropia was (still is) an important new frontier land, a Wild cyber West where heroes live and die by the gun (or their wits). Hundreds of thousands came from all over the globe seeking Virtual Fame and Fortune, The first decade saw glorious days, heroes names burst across the virtual night sky like shooting stars, great discoveries were made, priceless treasures traded for record breaking sums, Heroes came and left, some even died leaving traces of their lives in the Virtual Soil, many, many Quit when times were hard.

A few from the earliest days held fast to the virtual dream and have never let go, today their names Beloved or Notorious, resonate with the weight of the Historical first days of a new promised land. Many who joined after the first wave can claim their Avatars are older than their flesh and blood children.

Fortunes have been made and lives changed even during the infancy of Entropia Universe, the whole world has marveled at some of Entropia Universe’s record breaking landmarks, but the world has largely shied away from the hardship and challenges faced with exploiting the extraordinary opportunities of Entropia Universes Rich and Dazzling landscapes, preferring the relative comfort and safety of farming their time away on Facebook or Hacking and slashing their avatars into retirement and anonymity in World of Warcaft.

Despite the World, Despite changing technologies, despite the naivete of the press who clamor around Fads.. Entropia has Survived, evolved and expanded like a Good Universe is expected to do, as its DNA prescribes. Despite everything, Entropia Universe has against all odds reached a very important milestone and the heart of the Universe beats with the Loud banging Dreams of Virtual pioneers from around the world, many of whom have logged thousands upon thousand of hours laboring and striving for greatness, may of whom have tasted the sweet fruit of their labor. many of whom continue to create the virtual human infrastructure that holds the Universe together, that sustains it through its darkest hours and growing pains.

if You were to look at the evolution of Entropia Universe with a time lapse camera then you could see that there is a momentum behind it, that the events of tomorrow were already set in motion yesterday, you would see that it will continue to grow and evolve, The blood of the Universe is oxygenated with Human Dreams and it is capable of Magic, it has a power of it’s own, that is greater than its individual creators, it has the power to inspire, touch, choose and nurture future heroes who may becomes the champions of the future.

It has the power to bring people together in what may appear at first chance meetings, but what will sometime in the future feel like fateful meetings. Some soothsayer types would like to believe it may even have the power to Save the World, to save Humanity.

Planet ROCKtropia which will later this Year announce a New Magnificently Exciting, Major Virtual Movie Adventure in partnership with Universal Studios, would like to mark the Start of the 10th Anniversary of Entropia Universe with a Firework Display of Global messages from its pop culture loving pioneers. The Display of Global Fireworks shall start on Feb 7th and end at midnight on February 10th-

Entropia Turns TEN!

MindArk is very proud to announce that Entropia turns ten years old today!!

On this day, the 30th of January 2003, Project Entropia was officially released to the public. That release, also known as the PE ‘Gold’ release, marked the beginning of a very long and eventful evolution to the greatly expanded and advanced Entropia Universe of today.

In celebration of this exciting milestone, MindArk and the planet partners will be organizing a variety of special events, with special TEN (Tenth Entropian New year) edition items distributed in loot and as event prizes.

To start, each planet partner will be hosting its own TEN celebration event on its planet, with anniversary prizes supplied by MindArk. These prizes include two full sets of the extremely powerful Chronicle TEN Edition armor (1 male and 1 female), along with two sets of Paladin TEN Edition armor, some amazing new TEN Edition armor platings, and some fiery Arsonistic TEN Edition chips.

These planetary and other ten-year anniversary events will continue over the next several months. Each planet will also be introducing a special TEN Edition version of one of its weapons, which will be introduced in the partner release scheduled for late February.

Next week, MindArk will be announcing a major estate auction, quite different from the traditional land area model. All we can say for now is that the estate will feature some previously unknown alien lifeforms...

Finally, as some of you may have noticed, MindArk has already started celebrating by juicing up the loots, globals and HoFs! No one can be sure when this insanity will end so be sure to grab your share of these ‘Modified Loots’!

Planet Arkadia Triathlon 2013 - "TEN" edition

This year, as we celebrate the monumental milestone of Entropia Universe's tenth anniversary, Arkadia Studios presents "Planet Arkadia Triathlon 2013", the first of many TEN events proudly sponsored by MindArk.

The unique four-day "Triathlon" format will make this the first official event of its kind in the history of Entropia Universe.

  • The event is simple. Global in each of the three primary professions (hunting, mining and crafting) to score a point.

  • Most points wins, and there are ten places with huge prizes!

  • Did we include some random prizes? Of course! Every point you earn is an entry in the draw, unless you win one of the top ten prizes!

  • Event goes for four days, starting 31st Jan 2013 (00:00:01 MA Time) and ending on 3rd Feb 2013 (23:59:59 MA time).
What better way to celebrate the historical TEN year anniversary than by combining the three fundamental professions that have helped Entropia become the amazing Universe it is today?

Rules, Notes, Definitions

Each set of 1 hunting, 1 mining and 1 crafting global entitles you to 1 point.
(1 hunting global + 1 mining global + 1 crafting global = 1 point awarded)
For example:
Cyrus gets 10 hunting, 20 mining and 30 crafting globals during the event period. Cyrus gets 10 points.

Globals must occur on Planet Arkadia, but not necessary for Arkadia items (for crafters).

The player with the most points wins first prize. Second highest total wins second prize, and so on.

This event is open to individuals only, and results will be determined via a report from MindArk.

Teams are not eligible for participation in this event. Any team results will be ignored in determining the winners.

An individual may only win one prize.

Top ten prizes will be determined first, then all ten winners' data will be removed from the report. 5 random prizes will then be determined from the remaining data. In other words, anyone who wins a top ten prize does not qualify for a random prize.

Random prizes will be drawn using a random number generator.

The final decision for prizes will be made by Arkadia Studios, and will be announced as soon as possible after the event ends. It will take some time, however, for MindArk to generate a report and for Arkadia Studios to determine the winners.

In the event that there is a tie for any of the prizes, the first player to have reached the prizewinning number of points receives the prize, the second player to have reached the prizewinning number of points receives the next prize, and so on. If such a tie forces a player out of the top ten, no prize will be awarded, however their points will be deemed as valid entries for the random prize draw.

An eligible "global" is any hunting, mining or crafting loot on Planet Arkadia registering a value higher than 50 PED, including HOF (Hall of Fame) and ATH (All Time High). In other words, a loot of over 50 ped TT value in any of the three main professions. Instance loot does not count.

Prizes will be available by direct trade with the avatar "Cyrus Arkadia Community Manager".

Any prizes not collected within 28 days of being advised they are available, risk having Arkadia Studios forfeit the prize.

Event starts 31st Jan 2013 (00:00:01 MA Time) and ends on 3rd Feb 2013 (23:59:59 MA time).

Scouting the Trades in Twin Peaks 28-01-2013

Alklek is in Twin Peaks today too:
[Alklek] Buying: Belk126 - Blau112 - Cald117 - Cumb121 - Gazz125 - Iron109 - Narc115 - Niks126 - Alic106 - Typo118 @ Balcony

And here are his prices 3 days ago:
[Alklek] Buying: Belk125 - Blau108 - Cald112 - Cumb120 - Gazz126 - Iron107 - Narc117 - Niks128 - Alic106 - Typo116 @ Balcony

Looks like he is updating them every day. That means if you are trader every time you log in you have to check the auction and then figure out what prices to offer. Every day or even every log in new prices.

Rosie today:
[rosie] BUYING ORES & ENMATTERS @ BALCONY GAZZ-126%BELK-127%NIK-128%NARC-115%BLAU-112%IRON-109%LYST-101% ETC ALL ORES & ENMATTERS GOOD %

And 3 days ago:

also new prices.

Wotan today
[Wotan] buying ALTERNATIVE 128 %, Gold 103%, Redulite 320 %, Erionite 110 %, Iolite 112 %

and 5 days ago:
[Wotan] buying ALTERNATIVE 128 %, Gold 103%, Redulite 350 %, Erionite 110 %, Iolite 112 %

You found Something Out Of The Ordinary

I was mining as usual at Treasure Island on Calypso and just found something out of the ordinary or SOOTO for short. I just droped the probes and got 14 Hansidian Rock in my inventory. No need to even extract it from the ground. It is just 0.14 PED, but the MU is insane - 4163% weekly MU. If I am not wrong this is 5.82 PED. Not much, but it is nice to see SOOTO in your loot window. This is my first SOOTO for more than 2 years.

Scouting the Trades in Twin Peaks 25-01-2013

Today there is another trader offering good prices in Twin Peaks. Blausariam is up today to 114.68%, but weekly is 112.47 and monthly is just 110.36. So offering 112% for it is really risky IMO.

[rosie] BUYING ORES & ENMATTERS @ BALCONY BLAU-112%NARC-117%LYST-101%CALD-112%IRON-109% ETC ALL ORES & ENMATTERS GOOD %

Here is what Alklek was offering 2 days ago.
[Alklek] Buying: Belk125 - Blau108 - Cald112 - Cumb120 - Gazz126 - Iron107 - Narc117 - Niks128 - Alic106 - Typo116 @ Balcony

But it is interesting that all of those ores are more expensive now than they were 2 days ago. Alklek got extremely lucky or he was smart enough to analyze the game and predict the price of what ores will go up and buy them for price close to MU.
I'm starting to think that the success in trading in Entropia is not in buying cheap, but buying when you know the price will go up.

And here is funny trader - offering at the same time to buy and sell 6 CLD :

[Cyberlander] SELLING 6 X CLD, 1 X ESI 12 TT @ BALCONY BEST PRICE HERE!

[Cyberlander] BUYING 6 X CLD @ BALCONY

Avatar Update 2

Feedback received through support cases and community forum discussions indicates that several issues related to the new avatar creation system have resulted in many participants finding it difficult to create their desired avatar appearance.

MindArk wishes to do everything possible to assist participants in achieving their desired avatar look. As such, it has been decided to temporarily allow participants to go through the avatar creation process as many times as they wish. This offer will be enabled when the mini-patch is deployed early next week, and will allow participants to use the avatar creation interface an unlimited number of times for a period of approximately one week.

Below is a list of currently known avatar system issues. Please do not submit support cases on these issues, as they have already been identified and will be addressed in the VU patch next week. For other issues not listed here, please make an effort to include as much description and information as possible when submitting support cases, so that the support and development teams can better prioritize issues and implement fixes.

Known Issues

  • Locked movement can occur for Body Sculptor Designers after closing the Body Sculpting UI. In such cases a relog will correct the issue.
  • Locked movement can occur when trying to enter avatar creation areas that are full. In such cases a relog will correct the issue.
  • Due to last minute integration issues, makeup masks will not be available in this release. Makeup masks will be activated in the release patch, expected in one week.
  • Makeup masks created during the avatar creation process are not visible in the Start Room, but will become visible again once your avatar arrives on a planet for the first destination.
  • Female makeup masks appear fully decayed when arriving on a planet for the first time. This is a visual bug only, the masks are not decayed.
  • Performance issues with certain graphics cards in areas with many avatars on screen.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work on resolving these issues in the coming days.

Scouting the Trades in Twin Peaks 23-01-2013

Ok, lets see how much other traders are offering to buy your resources so I can start offering something similar.

23.01.2013

[lebanner] BUYING ALL ORES, ENMATTERS, ANIMAL OILS, BEST PRICES ON MARKET AT BALCONY NW OF TP (CHECK %'S BEFORE YOU SELL TO ANYONE!)

[Clementina25] BUYING  ALL CALYPSO ORES & ENMATTER/ METAL ENERGY RESIDUE / ESI  @ BALCONY

[Nvidia-] -- BUYING ORE & ENM : BELK ::GAZZ ::IRON :: KANE :: NIKS ::DURU ::NAT.STONES AND FRUITS -- BALCONY

[Wotan] buying ALTERNATIVE 128 %, Gold 103%, Redulite 350 %, Erionite 110 %, Iolite 112 %

[Alklek] Buying: Belk125 - Blau108 - Cald112 - Cumb120 - Gazz126 - Iron107 - Narc117 - Niks128 - Alic106 - Typo116 @ Balcony

So lets analyze Alklek offer. He is offering 125% for Belkar Ingot. Monthly MU is 126.58% and that means that on every 100 PED TT value of Belkar Ingot he will sell it for 1.58 PED more than what he paid. And this is probably less than the auction fee. And for the last year Belkar lowest price was 112% and fast it can get a lot less than that 125% he paid to buy it. If he sell it in shop he will pay less fee, but people don't go often to shops and if they go they look for cheap so he must sell it for less than 125% in the shop. If he buys the Belkar for him to craft with it it's stupid because crafters are rich and spending few hours daily just to save few pecs is stupid. So that price doesn't make sense to me. Why he is paying so much.

Now lets see if other ingots are the same way. For Blausariam Ingot he offers 108% when monthly MU is 109.90% again very small difference. For Caldorite Ingot he offers 112% and the weekly MU is 112.79%. For Cumbriz Ingot he offers 120% and the daily MU is 123.32%. For Gazzurdite Ingot he offers 126% and the weekly MU is 128.76%. For Iron Ingot he offers 107% and the weekly MU is 111.60%. For Narcanisum Ingot he offers 117% and the daily MU is 120.79%. For Niksarium Ingot he offers 128% and the weekly MU is 132.30%. For Alicenies Gel he offers 106% and the daily MU is 110.92%. For Typonolic Gas he offers 116% and the daily MU is 120.80%.
Ok, for some ingots his margin is like 4% which is better then 1-2%, but still it's a lot of work and risk to gain few peds. I will have to investigate the trading in Twin Peaks more before I start buying ores there.

Entropia Universe Character Customization

Look cool and unique – Trading lesson 1

If you want to be a trader in Entropia Universe or actually if you want people to remember your avatar the most important thing is the outfit. Usually traders and most of the uber players buy fancy and very expensive clothes. So I was thinking how to make my avatar more unique and I bought the most unique armor in Entropia Universe at the moment (In My Honest Opinion) – Turrelion Armor. It is designed by Planet Cyrene, doesn’t offer much protection but looks very cool and is cheap. TT price is just 15,40 PED for the set and with MU I bought it for like 100 PED may be even less. Also it is important to have something unique in your hand so I bought nice looking axe (my avatar name is AxeMurderer) from Rocktropia for 100% MU and I am ready to go to Twin Peaks and start buying resources. And since the last update from yesterday and VU 14 there is no more tax when you switch armor, but there is still tax when you switch clothes. This is how I am looking in this Turrelion armor with Infernal Trident in my hand before the avatar update and VU 14:

VU 14 also comes with better avatars and free change of the avatar look for everyone. And because of some bugs next week we will have another free change of how avatars look. So I will have the chance to make my avatar more unique and when they introduce the scars and tattoos may be even place some of those on my avatar’s face. And this is how I look after VU 14 and you can also see some other traders in Twin Peaks behind me.

Next step is to think of what price should I offer for different resources. But this you can read in my next Trading log.

New Avatar System Info & FAQ

The upcoming Version Update 14.0 includes an exciting new avatar system. Before the release, we’d like to share some information about the new avatar system to prepare participants for the upcoming improvements and changes. Some of the info in this Entropia Universe Buzz article was shared a few days ago in our press release, but we have included it here for those participants who may have missed it the first time around.

First, a quick overview of the new avatar system and then some answers to questions that existing participants may have about how the upcoming changes will be implemented in VU 14.0.

Overview
The new avatar system will bring Entropia Universe to the forefront of graphics technology in an MMO with highly detailed and fully customizable new avatars. The new avatars are significantly enhanced with over twice as many polygons as their predecessors for surprising fidelity. All character textures have been heightened as well, with faces becoming four times more detailed. Bilateral asymmetry is now a key factor in making distinctive creations as tattoos, scars and makeup no longer need to be even on both sides; and even hair has been improved so that it now moves and bounces naturally. Additionally all avatar animations have seen improvements so they move more fluidly, with clothes and armor redone to better fit the new models. This all allows for a much richer user experience as players' in-game representations will now be much more engaging and realistic.

To add to the gameplay the avatars not only look better, but they have been optimized for better performance on all machines as well. While overhauling the creation system to introduce the high-fidelity models the developers also took the time to work on the basic user interface. They made it far easier to customize a unique character so players can explore the world as anyone they wish. The new system also improves the handling of different races to better represent players and their backgrounds. The team also included pre-set appearances to allow for faster entry into the game if a player doesn't want to spend the time on their avatar. Upon release of the new avatar system all existing users will get a chance to re-customize their look for free.

FAQ
What are some of the best features of the new avatar creation interface? The new avatar creation interface has many useful features to help you create a huge range of avatar looks. The most useful feature might well be the history slider, which allows you to undo recent changes and revert to an earlier version. Also, the large number of built-in presets for each customization section offer great starting points for creating amazingly detailed and beautiful avatars.

Will avatars look the same after update? No. Upon logging in after the VU 14.0 release, every avatar will be presented with a dialog box allowing them to enter the new avatar creation system. If a participant declines the avatar recreation offer, a random avatar look will be generated and used until the participant chooses to define their own custom avatar look.

Will all beauty options and hair styles be available in the new avatar creation system? Yes, initially. Many participants are very attached to their Entropia Universe avatars and it’s important to give active participants an opportunity to recreate their preferred avatar appearance in the new system. After exiting the new avatar creation process, however, any further alterations or refinements to one’s avatar will need to be performed by skilled body sculptors and hairstylists within Entropia Universe.

Will new avatars created after the VU 14.0 release have access to all beauty options and hair styles? Yes, but only for a short time. Some of the more advanced looks and options will be restricted in a following release.

Return of the Virtual Trader

I have few things on my mind and I’m not sure how to start. In this post and may be few more I will talk about my future plans in Entropia Universe, Calypso Land Deeds and the risk of buying them, Shops, Trading and reselling in Twin Peaks and may be some other stuff.

Some of you may know that I had 2 shops on Planet Calypso in Emerald Lake Mall with more than 500 item points. I was selling a lot of items from Calypso and Rocktropia. I was selling my items and items for other people with small profit for me. Then in November 2011 MindArk announced that they will start selling deeds from Planet Calypso with 27% to 30% ROI and I realized that this is better investment than a shop. With shop you must work a lot for smaller profit. So I sold my shops even with big loss in the price to buy as much CLD (Calypso Land Deeds) as I can. The problem is that soon I started missing my shops. Once you owned a shop then just hunting, mining and crafting is just not enough for you. Entropia Universe is RCE (Real Cash Economy) game and thinking how to make money and making them is half (or even more) the fun. You can’t just go with your big wallet and hunt all day and have fun all the time. And with a shop you can sell most of the loot with low MU for 1-2 PED profit instead of selling it all to the trade terminal and feel bad that your loot doesn’t have MU.

So I started making a plan for the next few years. First I needed to get enough CLD so I can reinvest the income from them in shops and enough items and resources to be able to trade without depositing every week and still be able to hunt and mine when I want. I think I will get to that point with my next deposit. But all that money into CLD is risky. If something bad happens to the game CLD have 0 TT value and I won’t be able to withdraw any money. So my next move is going to be buying a shop and then buying with the revenue from the CLDs items and resources equivalent to the price I paid for all my CLDs. In case game goes dead I will withdraw the money I deposited and move on. I don’t believe this will happen, but better safe than sorry. This will also give me shitload of items and resources to trade with and play big.

Speaking of playing big, recently I read the Trading log of Igor Babaroga1x. His goal is to make 60 000 PEDs with just 500 PED as starting investment. Later this year I will have a lot more free PEDs in my PEDcard and I will probably by my avatar cool looking clothes and start buying resources for my shops in Twin Peaks. I want to have one big shop just for ores and energy and then one shop for guns and armors and then another for mindforce. The problem here is that there are two words for people buying and selling in Entropia Universe. The first is TRADER – if they call you trader they like you and respect you. The other word for doing the same is RESELLER – if they call you reseller they hate you and wish your computer to die from nasty computer virus. So if I invest only will CLDs I will make more profit and everybody will like me and if I start trading in Twin Peaks I will make less profit, work hours daily buying resources and risk to be hated. Anyway I will probably give it a try and start trading log. Now there are tons of hunting and mining logs and just one for trading.

Something else that may slow my plans is the big sale from MindArk in the end of January 2013. If it is something really good and I can afford it I will put my PEDs there instead of more CLDs, shop and items.

Player's Notes vol 1 part 2 - Hunting Loot Mechanics

It seems fairly certain now that the min/max loots and the 3.5x multiplier are in play.

Many posts here are right that there could be more factors behind the scene at work (and i imagine there is as well), but in the end, all we see is the min/max range and so that's all that really matters for us (the players), and all that we need to work with..

Also, I intended this post (a bit) to be somewhat addressed to Mindark as well as the players, in an effort to give some feedback to what we see and experience from our end.. I originally had posted this thread in the Dev's corner but was moved by the Mods.. It wasn't only about how we experience the system but also tried to highlight some possible problem areas in returns (missing multipliers) as well as the overall psychological experience of the hunt in general ( min/max loots, almost all losing loots, being over 90% of what we loot)

So, assuming that we do indeed have these min/max and multiplier barriers, what can that tell us?

Well I had some thoughts:

Is the Min/Max range a constant?

Using the min/max ranges we might be able to test a few things..

Weapon types and loot returns - Do all weapon types (laser, blp. mf, melee, rockets etc.) all produce identical min/max values?

In other words, Do I, as a laser handgun user have the same min/max loot values as a mf user? or a rocket user?

This could be interesting to verify...

A friend of mine reported to me (after these notes) that he had been hunting argo young and that the highest loot in min/max range he received was 1.24 peds.. this seemed a tad high to me, but here's the catch: He is a MF hunter,, so the next question is: Can anyone else, using laser/blp etc also record a 1.24 ped loot on argo young? or are the more eco weapon types have a slightly lower max range?

this could be very easy to test..

Does the amount of HP a mob regens affect the min/max range?

Much harder to test, but still possible using the min/max values, would be the element of regen.. if a mob was allowed to regen, would it still only produce min/max value loots or would it possibly shift higher (to compensate for regeneration)

To note, I personally have never been a big believer of either of these theories, but never discounted their possibility of existing either.. the min/max range loots could offer us a good standard to test these things against..

It still seems very certain that 1.5x - 3.5x multipliers do not exist in hunting..

But the min/max values i believe deserve a closer look now because they might have the ability to help us test some things..

Managing Land Area

First you will need roughly 100k-200kPED to buy a Land Area. That's 10k-20kUSD.

Then you need to take a look at the land, see what it has, decide what it needs, figure out how you should set it up, and decide if you have enough PEDs to do so. (Should have done this before you bought the LA actually, but you know that. )

Things to look at when deciding what the LA needs is: 1) Size, shape, and overall configuration of the land itself. 2) Whether or not it has any built in terminals such as a Trade Terminal, Repair Terminal, etc. on the land. 3) See if you can buy the Shed that goes with it and if not then who owns it. You could use the shed as a shop to sell supplies to those who come to your LA and etc. 4) If it has a teleporter and if not then how close the nearest teleporter is. How easy it is to get to your LA will have an effect in determining how popular it is and how many people will come to it on a daily basis. 5) If the LA has a special name and whether or not you want to keep it the name it is on the map or on the TP or change it to something else.

If it does not have some of these things and if you want it to have some of these things then you will need the PED to make them happen.

After that you need to decide whether or not you want the LA to be a hunting, mining, or combination LA. You can decide this by taking a sweep of the land with a mining tool and figuring out what ores and enmatters are found on it. Depending upon the value of these ores and enmatters you may want to focus on less hunting, more hunting, or no hunting.

If you want the LA to be a mining LA then you don't need to worry about having animals on your land. Just set the land to no animals and let the land lay open.

If you want it to be a hunting LA then you will need to aquire some animal DNA. At this point you need to decide what creatures you want to spawn on your land, what maturities they are, and what density they spawn. This an all be decided on based upon the need for a specific creature and what maturities/densities work best when hunting them. You will also then need to buy and put fertilizer into the fertilization station on the LA. Fertilizer is the fuel used to spawn mobs on the land. It is created by combining common dung and growth molecules. You'll need to make sure the station is stocked or new mobs won't spawn.

If you want the LA to be a combinatin LA then you need to decide what creatures would work best for hunting on your LA, but creatures/maturities/and densities that are easy enough to manuever around for miners so that they don't die all the time. This can be a trial and error process during which you may need to test out the conditions yourself and get feedback from other players who spend time on your LA.

After you do all of this; you then need to advertise, promote, and set up events for your LA. Interesting, fun, and potentially profitable events with good prizes will bring in players and increase the popularity of your LA as more and more people get to know about it.

Then you just need to keep up maintenance on your LA and decide what mining/hunting taxes to set.

Player's Notes vol 1 - Hunting Loot Mechanics

Like so many of you out there, I have played this game for years and have loads of ideas and concerns about the game we love. It has been an idea of mine for awhile to finally put all these thoughts, however big or small out there in some sensible fashion..

Originally, I had planned to start these player's feedback notes off lightly: concerning some small things, bugs/annoyances, simple feature requests, while getting into deeper topics in later notes. The timing of the end of the year, Merry Mayhem, and Mindark's new roadmap (in which even they are admitting to loot returns being an issue that needs to be addressed) as well as quite a lot of hunters reporting some depressingly bad returns lately has changed my precedent a little. So i will now focus this post on sharing with everyone some things i have dicscovered about hunting loot mechanics:

Notes:
I have read these forums religiously for years, even though i don't post much, and what I am about to say is in no way common knowledge and I want it to now be.

This is NOT a loot theory.. these are insights about how the hunting loot mechanics work and can be in no way taken advantage of or otherwise abused. The sole purpose of this post is to help the game as a whole, not me you or any other group of players. As such, the info is more about the way hunting loot works now and hopefully can gain some insight on how it can be improved and not just in loot returns but i feel more importantly the hunting experience.

One last note before i get on it is that this is a bit of a rabbit hole.. so please be careful with how much further you read on.. I do not want this to be a flame fest nor do i want to upset or frustrate people with Midark or the game in any way, but i do realize the info can lead to some upsetment possibly but it is for the good of the game and I am trying my best part to help improve it, so I'm asking the same of all of you, try to be constructive!

and here we go.. there are 2 points of how the loot system pays out, these 2 points play together to create our hunting experience

Hunting Loot Mechanic #1 - Min/Max Loots

Every mob's normal loot will have a set range: A normal loot consists of all loots that are not No Loots/fragments and are not multipliers (what many call minis)

A very handy formula i use is 300 hp damg per ped spent (roughly ofc) this is derived merely by taking 3.0 damg per pec and simply moving the decimal out to get 300 damg per ped.. this is a reasonable and easy enough number to use for the EU community on avg. This number also helps to set the Max loot in the min/max loot range.. the minimum loot u can receive will be a fraction of that (seemingly around 1/10)

Example: An Argonaut young has 300 hp.. this is the classic 1 ped mob.. 300 hp damg per ped, it costs roughly 1 ped to kill an argo young. When you hunt argo youngs all normal loots you will receive (not frags, not minis/multipliers) will have a tt value range somewhere in the min/max range.. The max being the cost to kill - 1 ped while the minimum i haven't nailed down yet but something like 1/10 we will say.. so that's 10 pecs, all argo young loots will be between 10 pecs and 1 ped (min/max) - These are also essentially "losing" mobs, at best breaking even.. this range can be applied to any mob in game.. 600 hp? 2 ped per kill 2 ped max loot/ 20 pec min loot etc.

So how about those multipliers? (now it gets interesting)

Hunting Loot Mechanic #2 - Loot Multipliers, Where are They?

I am defining a multiplier as loots that you get over the min/max range,, a loot that gives you back more in tt than it costs to kill.

Here it comes..

Does anybody know that a 2x multiplier doesn't exist??(!!) - you cannot loot 2 peds off an argo young (1 ped to kill)

Does anyone know that a 3x mutiplier doesn't exist???(!!!) - it is also impossible to loot 3 peds off an argo young..

In fact: a 3.5x Multiplier is the minimum multiplier you can get in hunting! - you can get a 3.5 ped argo young

Hmm crazy right? Oh, but you probably want some proof right? (I would) well thanks to Stafinder's awesome tracker/E-Life we have all the info we could need..

Examples in proof:

We have some very large HP mobs in game that when you apply these formulas of 300 hp per ped, min/max loots and the 3.5x multiplier minimum.. they generate predictable global minimums (they cannot global under a certain amount because of the minimum multiplier)

A few mobs display this very well:

Longtooth have 4890 hp.. divide this by 300 hp per ped and you get 16.3 peds (we will call this 17 peds for ease of use) so 17 peds per kill is the cost to kill and the max loot you get in the min/max range..

now take the 17 ped and apply the 3.5x multiplier minimum - this gives 59.5 ped minimum multiplied loot (again we will round this up to 60 ped) so basically a 60 ped global is the minimum global u can get on a LT..

Tracker verifies this.. you can click through as many pages as you need to, but you will not see a single global of 50-59 peds in there... i believe the smallest global was 61 peds..

Daspletor have so much hp that they can verify both the min/max as well as the 3.5x minimum multiplier

a Dasp young has 7800 hp. /300 hp per ped gives 26 ped per kill.. its minimum global should be around 91 peds

a Dasp Stalker has 16990 hp! /300 hp per ped is actually almost 57 ped per kill! so they have so much hp that a normal min/max loot can generate small globals (up to about 57 ped) and then their 3.5x would jump all globals up to 200 ped and up..

You can also see the pattern change on mature rhino beetles from when the beefed up the hp back in May, they now have 6khp and cant global in 50-59 ped range where b4 they were often (when they had less hp)

How it Plays Out

Not only are the returns often a big issue, but so is the entire experience psychologically..

Lets take my recent runs in MM as a good exmpl because it has some nice round #s..
I was in Cat 2. at lvl 49 just giving it a reasonable go, i shot for the whole hour, using a L1100/a104 (lvl 45 to max) so 1 full hour hunting and i was averaging 100 kills per run on the spiders. So the round numbers are 1 full hr hunting, killing 100 mobs..

of these 100 mobs.. 90+ of my loots on avg are going to be the min/max loots (cost to kill or below), then there will be 3-4 novas/no loots, and 3-4 minis/multipliers to round out the 100 kills. This is the avg experience over and over. The returns are frustratingly bad but also the entire experience you feel frustrated as you wade through 90+ losing mobs . Good runs are solely dictated on just how good those 3-4 minis you get are ( how high above 3.5x you get)

The best way to describe how the min/max loot operates is think of your weapons.. Both the high(max damg) and the low (min damg) are in practice rare, resulting in an avg damg range..

min/max loots are seemingly like this as well, this results in the avg loot being rather far below the cost to kill, and near closer to 50% of cost to kill in practice. And as such if you go on a hunt and dont get any multipliers at all, you will be looking at a near 50-60% return..

I want to stop here because i just wanted to lay these things down as they are for the moment. without trying to attempt any solutions or fixes..

But at first take, I will only say it does seem that the absence of say, 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x multipliers in our hunting loot could be something to be looked at both for overall returns reasons, as well as the overall psychological experience of hunting. Also the min/max range,, maybe the min is too low on that (and again i'm not sure what it is, but can probably be tested and verified easily, i only used 1/10 as an exmpl, tho its close to that)
